Every complete trading system has four parts, and it isn't a system if any is missing. The ENTRY rule says what triggers a buy (a breakout, a pullback to support). The EXIT rule says how you take profit (a fixed target, a trailing stop). The STOP says where you admit you're wrong. And POSITION SIZE says how much to risk. Beginners obsess over the entry — but exits, stops and sizing decide far more of your results. Nail all four in advance and you have a system; nail only the entry and you have a hope.

A complete plan reads like this: ENTER when price breaks a 20-day high on above-average volume; STOP just below the breakout base; EXIT by trailing under the 20-day moving average; SIZE so the stop risks 1% of capital. The entry is only a quarter of it. Change the exit from 'trail the 20-DMA' to 'sell at +5%' and the same entries can turn a winning system into a losing one — which is why the other three parts deserve as much thought as the entry.

Exit, stop and size together outweigh the entry by a wide margin. A mediocre entry with great exits, stops and sizing can be profitable; a brilliant entry with no exit plan or sizing usually isn't. Beginners invert this and spend all their time hunting the 'perfect' entry.

Yes — without all four it isn't a system, it's a guess with a good start. If you can't state your exit, stop and size before entering, you're not ready to take the trade. Decide all four in advance, every time.
