How to find quality stocks

what makes a business "quality" ✓ROE > 15% · earns well on capital ✓Low debt (D/E) · survives shocks ✓Consistent profit growth ✓A moat · hard to displace
Before buying, run a quick quality check — a few fundamentals (is the business good?) and a few technicals (is the timing okay?). You don't need to be an expert; these basics filter out most junk.
  1. Profit growth — are sales and profit rising over 3–5 years? A growing business, not a shrinking one.
  2. ROE / ROCE — how well it turns money into profit. Above ~15% is healthy; higher is better.
  3. Low debt — a low debt-to-equity (under ~1) means it won't drown in a bad year.
  4. Valuation (P/E) — the price you pay for its earnings. Compare with peers; a very high P/E needs very high growth to justify it.
  5. Uptrend — price above its 200-day and 50-day moving averages, making higher highs and higher lows.
  6. Buy near support, not after a big run — and always know where you're wrong (your stop).
  7. Volume & delivery — rising price on rising volume with healthy delivery% = real buying, not a pump.
Rule of thumb: a strong business bought at a sensible level in an uptrend is the highest-conviction combination. Strong business + weak chart = watch and wait; weak business + strong chart = trade carefully, small. Start with large, well-known names where this data is reliable.

  5. अपट्रेंड — भाव 200-दिन और 50-दिन के मूविंग एवरेज के ऊपर, ऊँचे हाई और ऊँचे लो बनाता।
  6. सपोर्ट के पास खरीदें, बड़ी तेज़ी के बाद नहीं — और हमेशा पता हो कहाँ आप ग़लत हैं (आपका स्टॉप)।
  7. वॉल्यूम और डिलीवरी — बढ़ते वॉल्यूम पर बढ़ता भाव और अच्छी डिलीवरी% = असली ख़रीद, पंप नहीं।
अंगूठे का नियम: अच्छा बिज़नेस, सही लेवल पर, अपट्रेंड में — सबसे ऊँची कन्विक्शन का कॉम्बिनेशन। मज़बूत बिज़नेस + कमज़ोर चार्ट = देखें और इंतज़ार करें; कमज़ोर बिज़नेस + मज़बूत चार्ट = सँभलकर, छोटा ट्रेड। शुरुआत बड़ी, जानी-मानी कंपनियों से करें जहाँ ये डेटा भरोसेमंद है।

Before you even look at the chart, run a 30-second filter on Screener. Profit growing over 3-5 years? ROE and ROCE above ~15%? Debt low, and promoter holding steady or rising, not quietly falling? Then a technical glance: is it above its 200-DMA on real volume? A name that clears these isn't a buy signal - it's just earned the right to be studied further.

Careful. Good fundamentals plus a chart below its 200-DMA often means the market knows something not yet in the numbers, or the trend's simply against it. Quality tells you what's worth owning; the technical read tells you when. A great business in a downtrend can still fall a long way.
