Candlesticks 101

कैंडलस्टिक की शुरुआत

A candlestick packs four prices for one period into a single shape: the open, high, low and close. The thick body runs from the open to the close — green (or hollow) when price closed up, red when it closed down. The thin wicks above and below reach to the high and the low, showing how far price travelled before being pushed back. A long body means one side dominated the period; a long wick means a move was rejected. Read this, and every chart becomes a story of who won each session — buyers or sellers.

One daily candle: a stock opened at Rs 300, ran up to Rs 315, dropped to Rs 298, and closed at Rs 312. On the chart that's a green candle — body from Rs 300 (open) to Rs 312 (close), a short upper wick to Rs 315, a lower wick down to Rs 298. The green body and small wicks say buyers controlled the day and closed it near the highs. Read a hundred of these in a row and you're reading the market's mood, one session at a time.

What does a long wick tell me?लंबी wick मुझे क्या बताती है?

A long wick shows price went there but got firmly rejected. A long lower wick means sellers pushed price down but buyers slammed it back up (buying pressure); a long upper wick means buyers pushed up but sellers rejected it (selling pressure). Long wicks at a key level often mark a turning point.

लंबी wick दिखाती है कि भाव वहाँ गया पर पक्के तौर पर ठुकरा दिया गया। लंबी निचली wick मतलब बेचने वालों ने भाव नीचे धकेला पर ख़रीदारों ने वापस ऊपर पटक दिया (ख़रीद का दबाव); लंबी ऊपरी wick मतलब ख़रीदारों ने ऊपर धकेला पर बेचने वालों ने ठुकरा दिया (बिक्री का दबाव)। किसी अहम level पर लंबी wick अक्सर मोड़ दिखाती है।

Almost — a green (or hollow) candle means the close was above the open for that period, a red one means the close was below the open. Note that's open-to-close, not versus yesterday; a stock can gap up and still print a red candle if it faded from its open.
