The morning star and evening star are three-candle reversal patterns that mark a turn. A morning star forms at a bottom: a big red candle (sellers in control), then a small indecisive candle (the fight pauses), then a big green candle that closes deep into the first — buyers have seized control, a bullish signal. The evening star is its mirror at a top: big green, small pause, big red — a bearish warning. The small middle candle is the moment of balance; the strong third candle is what confirms the direction has flipped. Like all patterns, they carry most weight after a clear prior trend.

One day it prints a big red candle, the next a tiny candle that barely moves (buyers and sellers deadlocked), and the third day a strong green candle that closes back up inside the first red one. That three-candle sequence is a morning star — the sellers exhausted, the market paused, then buyers took over. It's most trustworthy here, at the end of a clear downtrend, and even more so if that third candle comes on heavy volume.
